Community Impact

Thinking Beyond the Classroom

Designed as a true community school, the proposed Woodstock Community Charter School will serve the wider community through enriching after-care, family resources, health partnerships, and initiatives that address real local needs. When families and communities thrive, children arrive at school supported and ready to learn.

After-Care Programs

Woodstock Community Charter School will offer a reliable, enriching after-care program that supports working families by extending the school day.

A Culture of Belonging

WCCS will intentionally cultivate a culture of belonging, respect, and inclusion from the earliest grades, not only to support the children inside our school, but to help that culture radiate outward through families, partnerships, public events, and everyday relationships across the wider community.

Intergenerational Partnerships

WCCS will foster connections between students and older members of the community, strengthening both student learning and the sense of purpose and belonging among seniors.

Community Partnerships & Wraparound Supports

When families have access to support, children are more likely to arrive at school ready to grow: rested, nourished, emotionally supported, and connected to caring adults. In this way, wraparound supports are not separate from academics; they are part of the foundation that makes deeper learning possible.

Adult Education & Family Workshops

When families grow together, children thrive. WCCS will offer programming designed for the adults in our students’ lives.

Fresh, Local Food as Fuel for Learning and Community Health

Nutritious food supports attention, emotional regulation, physical health, and academic success, which is why meals and snacks at WCCS will be treated as an essential part of the school day, not an afterthought.

WCCS will be a public anchor that strengthens students, families, and the broader region.

Our Vision

A True Community School

The programs described on this page are not just aspirational. They are the kinds of initiatives that community schools across New York State are funded and supported to pursue. As a charter school with a community-centered mission, WCCS will actively seek grants, public funding, and local partnerships to make these programs real.

New York State's community schools framework provides a model: a school that combines strong academics with wraparound supports, helping families thrive and making it easier for children to come to school ready to learn. That vision aligns directly with what we are building.

For us, a community school is both a strategy and a place: a strategy for bringing together educators, families, and community partners to create collective impact, and a place where the community gathers to support and nurture its young people.
